Our Storm Writing

Flicker flicker pop. The power went off. I slept with the lantern. The next morning mum noticed that the wind shifted the shed.

Calista

The wind was incredible. It blew my trampoline up and up. It blew my trampoline upside down.

Alex S

Flicker. My light came off in the night. I can’t see in the dark. Mum and Dad came upstairs. I go downstairs and sleep next door to Mum and Dad.

Eva-Marie

My power went out. The wind made our big tree fall over. I liked our big rope swing, but now we are making a hut in the bush.

Sam

Flicker. Flicker. The lights are off. We have to go to Nana’s house in the night.

Max

Woosh. The tree fell down. It fell on the road. The tree has been taken away. The wind was very, very strong.

Charlie

Our power went off. This was not good. I didn’t like it.

Hannah

Flicker. Flicker. The lights are off. The power is off. We have to get our torches. Mum and Dad have to turn their lights on. The kids table has gone. The power went off on Thursday night. It came back on Friday. Dad turned some things off. Mum forgot that the power was off. It was fun when the power went off but it was a surprise. I thought Ben was scared.

My lights flicked off and on in the night. It was scary when the lights went off and on. The branches fell off the trees onto the ground. In the morning it was better. The branches blew away in the wind. It was fun.

Ben

The clouds were scary at my house. The lights go off and my lights go off again and I didn’t like it.

Theo

Last night my tramp flew up into the wind and the power went off. It was a little bit fun.

Eva

In the weekend it rained. It was windy. My power went out. We lit candles. Seamus and me slept in the living room. Some of our trees fell down. BANG. We had the fire on all night. We had a torch in the middle of us.

The lights went off. It was fun. I liked when the power went off because it was fun.

The wind blew and blew at my house.

When my lights went out it was dark. It was fun. A tree fell down.

Flicker. Bang. The lights went off. In the morning my mum went outside to see if the trampoline was there but it wasn’t. So no more trampolines for the Gibsons! Also a tree fell down so Sam’s dad came to get it.

Our power went out. We had to go to our cousins. They had power. I panicked. I talked myself into not being scared because I was not alone. I have a family and we were together.

The power came out. It was scary. I didn’t like it. My tree fell down and the power came on. My friends house didn’t have power.

Who would have thought as we left school on Thursday afternoon what would happen that night!

I am sure we were all affected by the strength of the weather and the force of the wind. I hope you are all safe and secure at your place.

Indoor camping was 'fun' for a while, as we cooked our meals on top of the fire.

I was really pleased to see the power come on again after 25 1/2 hours. Unfortunately our neighbours had to wait well into Saturday for theirs to come back on. I hope your power is fully back on now.

It makes us realise when the power is out, just how much we all rely on electricity for our everyday living!! 

The heroes of the storm were all the people who were out fixing problems and helping others stay safe and secure. Thank you to all the teams of workers who worked hard in extreme conditions.

Production costumes

Production Costumes for Room 3 and 4 children

 In our upcoming school production your child will need to wear

·      Plain black long pants or tights

·      Plain black long sleeved top

They will also need a plain white t-shirt or singlet (if it is a little bit  larger that is even better)

If you don’t have these maybe you could borrow them from a friend

Does your child have

·      A Bob the Builder hardhat (kid size)?

·      Kid size fluro vest?                                   

We are able to source these for you at $5 for both the hat and vest as a package.

We would like the money by Friday as these have to be ordered.

World record holders

WOW. We are world record holders. 17,064 children all bit into a Jazz apple at exactly the same time on May 10th at 2.13pm.

Storylines Show

This morning we saw a Storylines Show. The theme of the show was teamwork and how it helps if you work together.

They read us a little bit out of some books from the New Zealand Post Children's Book awards -
