Get Set Go

Today we did more jumping.
We remembered to ...

to reach for the sky
and land like a feather

Today we practised being Jack in the Boxes. We held a bean bag between our knees to make it harder.

The game we played was called 'Sharks and Islands'.
We had boundaries and some hoop islands. The fish had to jump around the sea and were able to rest on the island for a count of 3 before jumping off again. 2 sharks were trying to tag us while we were in the sea. It was fun.

Discovering chapter books

The girls were so engrossed they didn't have time to tell me why they were great books!!!

Before school this morning, these children were totally engrossed when using the Spelling City app on the iPads as they practised their spellathon words.

Last week Room 4 hosted the school assembly. We have been learning to take photos and shared our pictures with everyone.

When we were taking photos we learned to...

• put the camera cord around our neck
• choose something interesting to take a photo of
•  make sure we know what we are taking a photo of
• check on the screen to see what will be in photo
• click on the silver button to take a photo
• get the person's head in the photo and not chop it off
• keep the camera still and not get fuzzy photos
• keep our fingers away from the lens
• put the camera close to what we are taking  picture of
• turn the camera off when we are walking around
• look up and take a photo - like a possum looking up
• look down and take a photo - like a giraffe looking down
• pretend to be an ant and take a photo along the ground

Get Set Go

Every Friday for the next few weeks the Juniors are taking part in a programme called 'Get Set Go'. Last week we practised balancing. We had to balance on our own, with a buddy and with a group. We balanced on various body parts.

Dog Safety

Animal Control Officers, Jane and Virginia from Hutt City came to teach us about keeping safe around dogs. They brought Amber with them for us to meet and learn to pat safely.  First we had to ask the owner if we could pat the dog, then offer the back of our hand for it to sniff and then we patted Amber under the chin and around the neck. We all practised this with Amber and Virginia. 

Jazz Crunch World Record attempt

On Friday 10th May, along with thousands of other school children around New Zealand, we tried to break a world record. At 12 . 13pm exactly we all bit into our Jazz apples.
We hope we have broken the record!!

Thank you Eva-Marie for bringing your cute kittens to share with us last week. we loved patting your soft fluffy kittens.

Football in Schools

We started term 2 with wet weather, but this did not stop us learning new football skills. Every day in the first week of term, Hayden, Allan, and Nathanael came and taught us to dribble the ball and to stop and hold the ball with our feet. We played lots of games with the balls as well. It was fun.
